The first test was not a very happy one for the Indians with the West Indies managing to sneak out a draw with only one wicket left.
India won the toss at St.Lucia, and Rahul Dravid elected to have a bat on a relatively greentop. Sehwag and Jaffer set to open the innings piled on the runs. Sehwag was a bit cautious for the first few overs but then opened up. He blazed away to 99 runs in the first session itself missing his century before lunch, which would have been the first by an Indian in the West Indies. Jaffer provided good support with India going in for Lunch without loosing a wicket.
Sehwag soon completed his century and continued with his wonderful form which made him reach his 12th Test century. Jaffer, who got a double ton in the first test was caught in the slips for a decent 43. Laxman walked in with the departure of Wasim, but couldn't take advantage of the ball getting old and the pitch flatening out. He was dismissed for a duck after playing 10 deliveries.
Sehwag got out for a blasting 180 from 190 balls and the in-form Yuvraj didn't make much of an impact in this match.
Dravid showed good technique no make 95 at the end of days play with Kaif unbeaten at 18.
